Confidence in Motion Spotlight: The All-New 2019 Subaru Forester Sport

Subaru, going minimalist, says it's "inspired by the needs of outdoor enthusiasts." But from the moment it was set to roll into our Subaru dealership here in Orange, VA, we knew the new Subaru Forester Sport would take the ruggedness of the compact SUV we’ve all come to know and love to the next level. So, what do northern Old Dominion's orienteers have to look forward to?

The crossover packs a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER engine capable of 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, to be sure -- both rating improvements over last model year. And, of course, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive comes standard, as does EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology for intelligent safety measures. But there's a lot that's unique to the new Forester Sport.

For one, it's got some cool, appearance elements, from a striking Sport grille with a black gloss-finish frame to 225/55 R18 98H all-season tires atop black-finish aluminum alloy wheels, not to mention a black rear roof spoiler and orange-accented black underguards and roof rail mounts. Ditto for unique first-responder and emergency assistance tech, standard SUBARU STARLINK&#trade; Safety and Security, as well as an extra set of eyes on the road, in the form of LED fog lights. The new 2019 Forester Sport even has superb accommodations, including heated two-tone sport cloth front seats with orange contrast stitching, which are 10-way power-adjustable for the driver, a power tilting and sliding panoramic moonroof, 4G LTE Wi-Fi support, two second-row USB ports, and more. But step into the driver's seat using PIN-code access, tap push-button start, and you'll see the centerpiece of the Forester experience.

It's handling. Forester makes it an enthusiast's joy. Not only does the SUV have a Lineartronic® CVT that incorporates paddle shifters with a manual mode for both ease of gear shifts and hands-on thrills. It's also got a new SI-DRIVE® engine management system that features Intelligent and Sport Sharp modes, which regulate and tune the engine control unit (ECU), transmission, and throttle response to deliver a high-performance experience unlike any other.

You'll just have to check it out to see what we mean. Be sure to keep an eye out for when the new 2019 Subaru Forester arrives, then, take a ride out from Charlottesville, nearby Culpeper, or the Fredericksburg area and visit us here at Reynolds Subaru. We'll show you a test drive you won't forget!
